Montessori Children's Academy is filled with the best Montessori materials from Holland and Italy.

“Montessori’s educational vision has not only survived into a new century, it is thriving as never before. Many of her once radical ideas — including the notions that children learn through hands on activity, that the preschool years are a time of critical brain development and that parents should be partners in their children’s education – are now accepted wisdom.”

Smithsonian Magazine (Sept 2002)

"This system in which a child is constantly moving objects with his hands and actively exercising his senses, also takes into account a child's special aptitude for mathematics. When they leave the material, the children very easily reach the point where they wish to write out the operation. They can thus carry out an abstract mental operation and acquire a kind of natural and spontaneous inclination for mental calculations."

Dr. Maria Montessori

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for providing the Best primary education available for my daughter Melissa Ramos. Melissa is now in middle school. Last year she von the Valedictorian Award for her fifth grade class. This award was given to the student with the highest grade point average among 256 students. I can honestly tell you that this would have not been possible if she had not received the excellent education Montessori Children's Academy provided during her pre-kindergarten - kindergarten education. Melissa left your school and transferred to a public school, where she was immediately tested and qualified for the Gifted Program. It was because of your great curriculum program that my daughter has encountered success throughout her elementary school years. Once again thank you for your support in educating children.

What is Montessori?

The Montessori Method was founded in 1907 by Dr. Maria Montessori, the first woman in Italy to become a physician. She based her educational theories on scientific observation of children's learning processes. Guided by her discovery that children learn spontaneously, Dr. Montessori designed a special classroom environment in which children could freely choose from a multitude of developmentally appropriate lessons and materials. Now, over a century later, Montessori schools exist all over the world, serving children from birth through adolescence.

Our Goal

Our goal is simple. We prepare children for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning. Our directresses (teachers) are committed to ensuring that your child receives a broad strong academic education in the context of a carefully planned, stimulating environment. Through proven methods, we help children develop the essential foundational habits, attitudes, self esteem, skills and ideas that will shape the way they discover, learn and succeed in life. Research has shown that the best predictor of future success is a positive sense of self-esteem. MCA's program based on self-directed, non-competitive activities, helps children develop strong self images and the confidence to face challenges and change with optimism.

What we believe

At Montessori Children’s Academy, we believe that independent choice and authentic interest inspire children to pursue knowledge for the intrinsic rewards. The Montessori learning environment combines freedom of choice within a structured, interdisciplinary academic framework. Montessori Children’s Academy was founded in respect and appreciation for the gifts of childhood and that children learn by doing and are lovers of purposeful work, spontaneously chosen and carried out with joy.

MCA is not associated with any religion or spiritual belief system.  We are however, the only holistic Montessori school in Miami.  We nurture the mind, body and spirit of every student.  Our students meditate during “peace time” every morning so that they can be in touch with their spirit and start the day with the peace and focus that every student should have before they begin their day of learning.

It is MCA’s belief that crucial to the success of each student; Montessori schools need to have the best materials to work with.  The school is filled with an abundance of the best Montessori materials from Italy and Holland.  The school exceeds standards in space per student and teacher-pupil ratio.  We are a long standing Full member school with the American Montessori Society (AMS), and North American Montessori Teacher’s Association (NAMTA).  We follow the AMS Code of Ethics and teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori.  Membership in the American Montessori Society enables a school to participate in a vital national professional organization that is dedicated to the assurance of quality Montessori programs for children and families, the continuing development of Montessori teachers, and the expansion of Montessori practice into mainstream education.
